Meet the Sewers

Jennifer
Jennifer has been “sewing” for more than five years but has never conquered zippers. Although she has created several wearable skirts and has a few bags under her presser foot, Jennifer rarely finishes her sewing projects and often regards sewing instructions as merely “recommendations”.

Amy
Amy has been quilting for a couple of years, and within the last year started to try her hand at sewing bags and purses. (She has a special affinity for Amy Butler purse designs.) Clothing construction is completely new but as an avid Project Runway fan she is eager to expand her skills to sewing clothes. Not since her Aunt Cheryl helped her sew an outfit in junior high has she opened a clothing pattern. She is hoping the weekly challenge of assembling a garment will eliminate some of the countless hours she wastes watching television (except for Project Runway, of course). This is just another “hobby” to try on for size, after attempting tennis, tap dancing, Bob Ross painting, golfing… maybe this one will fit. By the way, if anyone needs size 8 tap shoes, she has a pair she can give you.

Joanne
Joanne comes from a family of sewers … 7 girls in the family and most of them are crafty! Her brother cannot sew, she believes. She has done a variety of projects over the years, including smocking and sewing her daughter’s little garments back in the day, quilting, and helping a friend construct tutus for a local ballet company. Joanne also knits when the mood strikes, and is proud (or maybe embarrassed) to say that she just last week finished knitting the socks she started 3 years ago, and the two placemats she started knitting two years ago. She likes this So-So group because it will force her to finish one project each week — she works well under pressure.
